There is a mistake here. Quote: Three minutes into the second half van Persie made it two, netting from Rafael van der Vaart’s lay-off. The Dutch had replaced keeper Timmer at the break, but there was nothing substitute Michel Vorm could do about van Persie’s shot.

Van Persie is also Dutch, so (if I’m reading correctly) I am quite confused about the Dutch keeper trying to stop the Dutch striker’s shot.

You can say a lot about Henk Timmer. But not that he’s a rookie. The current goalkeeper of Feyenoord has been playing professional football since 1989. He is in the national squad as a second or third goalie for something around six years now. This game against Sweden was his 7th international game.5
