Bolivia double win over Nicaragua retains UFWC title

Unofficial football world champions Bolivia defeated challengers Nicaragua twice in back-to-back friendly matches to retain the UFWC title. However, in the second match La Verde were forced to fight back from two goals down in order to avoid one of the biggest shocks in UFWC history. Bolivia will attempt to defend the title in a World Cup qualifier against Peru.

Can Nicaragua’s no-stars become unofficial football world champions?

Nicaragua, who have no Premier League or European football stars and have never before competed in a UFWC title match, will have two chances to become Unofficial Football World Champions following the announcement of two back-to-back friendly matches against Bolivia on 2 and 7 June. Bolivia are the current UFWC title holders having defeated previous champions Argentina.

Bolivia are the new unofficial football world champions following this fairly comfortable win over Argentina in a World Cup qualifier in La Paz. Juan Carlos Arce and Marcelo Martins Moreno scored the goals in Bolivia’s sixth all-time UFWC title match win, and their first since 1994.
