Uruguay 0-0 Jordan

Uruguay held off a brave Jordan to retain the UFWC title – and confirm their qualification for the 2014 World Cup finals. Jordan needed to win this play-off second leg by at least five goals to qualify for the World Cup, with Uruguay having won the first leg 5-0. But a win by just one goal tonight would have made Jordan UFWC champions, with both legs counting as separate title matches. In truth, the visitors never really looked like scoring in Montevideo, but they did at least restore some pride after last week’s thrashing.

Jordan 0-5 Uruguay

Unofficial football world champions Uruguay comfortably defeated Jordan to retain the UFWC title and effectively book a place at Brazil 2014. This was the first leg of the CONMEBOL World Cup play-off. The second leg will be played next Wednesday 20 November, and having built up such a lead it seems impossible that Uruguay will not qualify. However, under UFWC rules the two legs of the play-off count as two entirely separate matches. So there is still a good measure of interest left in this play-off.
