GREECE vs FINLAND, Nicosia, 08/02/08
Current UFWC Champions Greece will kick off 2008 with a friendly match against Finland on 8 February. Finland have played 13 UFWC matches, but failed to win any of them. Greece are currently ranked 11th in the world by FIFA, one place ahead of England. Finland are ranked 37th, one place behind the Republic of Ireland. Finland are unbeaten in eight games, five of which were 0-0 draws. Finland captain Jari Litmanen is currently on trial at Fulham. Can Greece extend their three match reign as champions, or will Finland take the title for the first time? Full coverage at www.ufwc.co.uk.
what about todays match versus czech repbulic? as far as i know, this was an officiall match as well.
…and Greece won the game against Czech Republik 1:0 so they are still UFWC. I’m not sure if this was an official FIFA match, but it is part of the same friendly tournament like the game against Finland (the fourth participant is Poland).
Also the match against Finland is today, according to german media and the FIFA website.
Yesterday’s match is mentioned on the official UEFA site, http://www.uefa.ch/competitions/euro/news/kind=1/newsid=654069.html – that doesn’t prove it’s an official FIFA match of course but it would be more than logical.
Appearantly yesterday’s match was with shadow squads.

why the game against Czech Republic is not an official uwfc game?
Greece (Charisteas 67, Katsouranis 72) 2-1 Finland (Litmanen 66)

Fuck. Finland fails yet again…
The Czech Republic match was not a FIFA ‘A’ match. The Finland match was:
A UFWC title match is any FIFA accredited International ‘A’ match involving the current UFWC title holder. According to FIFA: ‘An International ‘A’ match shall be a match that has been arranged between two National A Associations affiliated to the Federation and for which both Associations field their first national representative team.’ This includes most friendly matches.
