Peru aim to retain UFWC title against all-time champions Scotland

Reigning Unofficial Football World Champions Peru begin their World Cup warm-up with a title match against all-time UFWC champions Scotland. The match, in Lima on Tuesday, 29 May, is the first of the warm-ups before Peru head to Russia. La Blanquirroja, managed by popular Argentinian Ricardo Gareca – assisted by former Newcastle United midfielder Nolberto Solano, will also play Saudi Arabia on 3 June and Sweden on 9 June. Their World Cup campaign gets underway on 16 June against Denmark.


Scotland aim to regain unofficial football world champions title

According to the UFWC all-time rankings table, Scotland are unofficially the best team in the world. That’s because across the full lineage of the Unofficial Football World Championships, which stretches back to 1872, the Scots have won more UFWC title matches than any other nation. But they haven’t won a title match since 2007, more than a decade ago. The forthcoming game against current UFWC champions Peru gives Scotland gives them the opportunity to once again be crowned Unofficial Football World Champions.


Peru defeat Iceland to set up UFWC clash with Scotland

Peru won their second UFWC title match in four days, beating Iceland 3-1 to retain the unofficial title and set up an much-anticipated title match against all-time unofficial champions Scotland. Backed by a large following of fans, Peru matched Iceland in the first half then dominated the second half in this World Cup warm-up in New Jersey. This was Peru’s 12th UFWC title match win. Iceland have never won a UFWC match.
